Varicose Vein Treatment

As we age, our bodies go through changes. Certain conditions like varicose veins and spider veins are almost inevitable.

While mainly a cosmetic issue for the vast majority of people, they can be painful for some. This is why Westchester Compounding Pharmacy offers sclerotherapy to effectively treat these ailments.

What Are They?

vericose-vain-treatmentThese vein anomalies, experienced by nearly half of men and women, are typically found in the legs and feet, due to a number of factors, including increased pressure in the lower body caused by sitting or standing for long periods of time, pregnancy, age, and weight.

Varicose veins are large blue or dark purple veins that bulge out on the legs.

Spider veins are red or purple veins that are close to the skin’s surface. They don’t bulge like varicose veins, but they’re still easily seen. They appear mostly on the legs and ankles, but occasionally the face as well.

Reticular veins are blue-green veins that are larger than spider veins but don’t swell like varicose veins do.

How Treatment Works

Sclerotherapy is a minimally invasive procedure which involves using a syringe to inject a sclerosing solution into a vein. The solutions cause the vein to shrink and be absorbed into the body, making it unseen. Since the treatment takes only a few minutes, it’s common to return to normal activities shortly after the treatment is administered.
